It was a night of spectacular moments, split-decisions and pure emotion in London with UFC Fight Night: Manuwa vs Anderson.

The main and co-main events were overshadowed by raw emotion, as Brad Pickett fought for the last time in his illustrious MMA career. Despite getting the best of the opening two rounds, the fairy tale wasn’t to be as he was dropped with a vicious head kick by Marlon Vera with only a minute to go. What followed was one of the most touching moments in UFC history, as both Vera and Pickett were brought to tears and the crowd erupted to celebrate one of the true pioneers of Mixed Martial Arts in the United Kingdom.

In the main event, Jimi Manuwa made his statement for a title shot with a thundering one punch knockout of Corey Anderson. Stalking Anderson with pressure and forward movement, he backed Anderson up against the cage and was able to clip him with a beautiful left hook as Anderson attempted to circle out to his right. The victory puts Manuwa right into contention for a title shot against the winner of Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson.

In the co-main event Gunnar Nelson put on a quality display of grappling dominance, patience and movement, to put Alan Jouban away in the second round. Joubans hopes of breaking into the rankings were crushed, as Nelson hit him with a well-timed power shot early in the second round, and then jumped on a dazed Jouban, quickly sinking in a choke and making a statement to the rest of the Welterweight division.
